Biomechanics is basically human movement. How well your body moves will always dictate how well you perform, how much pain you have and determine your chance of injury. By improving movement, creating optimal movement patterns we can decrease the chance of injury and increase performance for life and sport.
I go about this a couple different ways. First, I have partnered with Fusionetics, a performance enhancement health system. I utilize their technology to perform a movement assessment finding your strengths and weaknesses. After an assessment (which can be done in person or via skype) you will then be given a personalized care program via the Fusionetics platform.
Next, I also utilize manual therapy techniques. This can be important to provide even more specific body awareness and tissue balance.
Massage therapy is a very diverse healing technique that uses the hands to encourage:
- increased circulation
- increased muscle balance
- increased flexibility/ range of motion
- decreased recovery time from injury, surgery and workouts
- decreased pain
- decreased headaches
- allergy/sinus relief
- injury prevention
- pre event sports warm up
- post event sports cool down
- reduce muscle soreness

- decrease bruising
What to expect from a massage therapy session
Every massage is different. It varies from person to person and from therapist to therapist. But there are a few things that will always be the same.
The first time you get a massage a health intake form needs to be filled out. We need to know if you have had a massage before, any injury, illness/disease and medications/supplements. These are things that will determine the specific techniques that we can use to help you and not hurt you. Next you need to talk with your therapist (before each session). You need to discuss and be specific about your goals and what you want to achieve from your massage. You need to let your therapist know if the pressure and techniques are ok for you. We feel fine, so if you do not it's important to tell us:) We are not offended, but we can always adjust to meet your needs.
After your goals have been set you will be asked to undress to your comfort level and get under the sheet and blanket. You will do this after the therapist leaves the room and will remain draped at all times. Only the extremity being worked on will be exposed at a time. The therapist will let you know when the session has ended and then leave the room. You will need to take your time getting up from the table as sometimes a massage (especially your first) can make you dizzy. As soon as you are ready you can come out of the room where I will meet you.
Massage therapy services are provided at the Campbell County Rec Center for all relaxation, sports and recovery needs. However, if you have an event that needs coverage you can contact me directly for info. I do travel to fund raiser events such as the MS Bikathon. Also if your team would like pre-event massage I can possibly travel to your venue before the competition.
